Rob： I’ve been thinking that I should reduce the amount of time I use my smartphone. Have you ever felt that way， Shoma？
Shoma： Uhh…、 I think the problem is not how much time I spend on it， but the way I use it.
Rob： What do you mean？
Shoma： I just read short， light articles with catchy titles. I feel like I don’t do long， deep reading anymore.
Rob： I see. Stacy， do you think you use your phone too much？
Stacy： Not really. Like most people， I use my smartphone for various purposes. We can get information quickly or find our way anywhere.
Rob： I see what you mean， Stacy. I think our brains need exercise， though. When we were kids， we sometimes had to work through math problems without a calculator. Remember？
Stacy： Sure， Rob. But now we have apps to do all that work. We can concentrate on tasks that require critical thinking.
Rob： Hmm…， smartphone use is quite complex. I see that the amount of time is not the only issue. I’ll give it more thought.
Shoma： As for me， I’ll read ebooks on my phone and think about what I’m reading more deeply， even if it takes more time.
Stacy： Well， I don’t really see a problem. I can’t imagine a day without one.
